The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) originated in 1948 as the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation (OEEC) as part of the Marshall Plan for European reconstruction after World War II. In 1961, the OECD was formed as a convention "where governments compare policy experiences, seek answers to common problems, identify good practice and coordinate domestic and international policies."*
OECD members are committed to democratic and market conventions. The OECD has 33 nation members, in addition to membership invitations and enhanced engagements with The OECD's headquarters are at the Château de la Muette in Paris, France.
